Prayed after the completion of the five mysteries (five decades)
A prayer honoring Mary as Queen, not only because of her Divine Motherhood of Jesus Christ, but also because God gave her an exceptional role in the work of eternal salvation.
This litany contains many of the titles used formally and informally for the Virgin Mary. It is often recited as a call and response chant in a group setting, and a partial indulgence is granted to those who recite it.
Just as you may ask a friend or colleague to pray for you, this prayer asks Mary to take your petitions to her Son. This reminds us that if we pray to Mary, we are simply praying through her to Jesus.
